Douglas County is known as prime horse country. It has numerous horse clubs and activities and the Colorado Horse Park, www.coloradohorsepark.com, an international equestrian competition center, is located in the South Parker area.
Douglas County is currently developing Reuter-Hess Reservoir, a key component in meeting the future water demands in the Parker area. This is the first federally approved off-stream reservoir in the Front Range in nearly two decades. In addition, many transportation and capital improvements are in the works in Douglas County to meet the ever-growing population.
Douglas County has had two major state-of-the-art hospitals open recently: Sky Ridge Medical Center, is noted for its patient and family comfort and convenience and the Parker Adventist Hospital, has partnered with The Children’s Hospital to offer excellent pediatric services. There also several urgent care clinics throughout the area.
